How To Care Of Car Window After Undertaking Car Window Tinting

After undertaking car window tinting, you should note that you still need to take care of the tinted windows. To help you out, here are tips on how to go about it:

Give it time

If you have just installed the tinting material, you should note that you need to give it time to dry. Most of the tinting films take between 3-5 days to dry depending on the material and weather conditions. In most cases, you will only need to wait for two days for it to completely dry out.

When you give the windows enough time you ensure that the film has fully adhered on the glass and it doesn’t peel off in the event you roll it down.

After tinting, it’s common for the window to be cloudy, hazy, and might be having little water pockets. If you are used to keeping your car clean, this might be driving you crazy. Don’t be in a hurry to clean the car. Simply let the film to attach to the car and it’s only then that you should go ahead and start the cleaning.

Use the right cleaning tools

You should note that you can’t clean the tinted windows as you clean the regular ones. This is because the tinted windows are more delicate as the installed window film is thin and it can easily get out if you aren’t keen on it.

When cleaning the windows, use gentler cleaning products in order to preserve it. You shouldn’t use ammonia in any situation. Ammonia-based products tend to reduce the darkness of the tint causing it to become dry, brittle, and imperfect.  For you to achieve ideal results, you should use a microfiber cloth and soft paper towels.

Follow the right cleaning procedure

Having the right cleaning materials isn’t enough—you also need to follow the right cleaning procedure for you to properly clean the windows. The things you need to give your windows the look they need are:

  • Spray bottle
  • Distilled water
  • A few drops of baby soap
  • 2 tablespoons of isopropyl alcohol

For you to make the ideal cleaning product you need to mix everything together. Take the empty spray bottle and rinse it to clean out any dust or residue that might be there. You should then add rubbing alcohol to the spray bottle along with the baby soap.

Once you are done, fill the spray bottle with distilled water and screw on the cap and swirl the contents. This is to ensure a thorough mix.

Be gentle in your cleaning

After preparing the cleaning solution, your next step should be to clean the windows. As rule of thumb, be gentle in your cleaning.

Experts recommend that you use two pieces of clothes when doing the cleaning. Use one cloth to wipe away the dirt and the other one for drying.

In the areas where there is no tinting, you can go ahead and use the ammonia-based cleaners. This is usually on the outside of the windows. When using the solution, be cautious that none of it gets on the tinted areas. This is because it will cause a lot of damage to the tinting film.

Be cautious with the edges of the tinting. As rule of thumb, avoid saturating them with the window cleaner. This is because it can lead to loss of stickiness and easy peeling of the window. The best way of going about it is simply wiping the window with a damp piece of cloth.

Are there hard to remove stains on the windows? Soak them in a cleaning solution for a few minutes and they will most likely come off.

Once you are done with the cleaning, you should do wiping strokes that move in the opposite direction from the ones you did on the outside of the window. The purpose of this is to make it easy for you to see any areas that you might have missed during the cleaning.

Auto glass tinting Springfield VA professionals recommend that you use distilled water instead of facet water to do the cleaning. The reason for this is because hard water tends to leave calcified spots on the surfaces. All you need to do is to buy the distilled water from your local grocery store.
